ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION to provide the theme song for Kora Kengo’s new movie

It’s been revealed that ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION will be providing the theme song for the upcoming film, ‘Yokomichi Yonosuke‘ (February 2013 release).

The film is a story about youth that’s based on an award winning novel by author Yoshida Shuichi. Kora Kengo plays a college student named ‘Yokomichi Yonosuke’ who moves to Tokyo from Nagasaki. Meanwhile, Yoshitaka Yuriko will play Yokomichi’s girlfriend ‘Yosano Shoko’. The cast also includes Ikematsu Sousuke, Ito Ayumi, and Ayano Gou.

The theme song, “Ima wo Ikite“, is a new song that was written just for the movie. It’s said to be a medium-tempo tune with a festive feeling to symbolize the cheerful and charming personality of the protagonist.

Kora Kengo was featured in the PV for ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION’s “Kazoku ya Tomodachi ya Koibito ya” back in 2009. The band also provided the theme song for Kora’s starring film, “Solanin“, in 2010. This will mark their third time working together.

Regarding the theme song, ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION’s Goto Masafumi (Vo, G) commented, “It was a movie that makes family, friends, lovers, and the world itself precious. I feel we were able to make a song that adds a bit of beauty to those thoughts.”

Meanwhile, Kora expressed, “It’s a song that’s perfect for Yokomichi Yonosuke. My heart dances. Thank you as always.”
