L’Arc~en~Ciel kicks off their world tour in Hong Kong!

On March 3rd, rock band L’Arc~en~Ciel started their biggest-scaled world tour at AsiaWorld-EXPO ARENA in Hong Kong. The tour is slated to pull in over 300,000 in total.  The vocalist hyde shouted to an audience of 10,000 in Cantonese, “Hong Kong!! I really missed you!!”, and overwhelmed them with a stage that intermingled hard rock with ballad.

In Hong Kong, L’Arc~en~Ciel is known as the “pioneer of J-rock”, and their popularity grew even larger after the spread of the internet.  The Hong Kong audience was humming the songs in Japanese, and there were fans that were moved to tears.  The band performed 19 songs, including the tracks from their latest album “BUTTERFLY“, as well as their masterpieces.

In the end, the audience gave the members generous applause, and hyde thanked them saying, “Thank you everyone!! I love you all, and we had great time.  See you again!!”

This is their first world tour in four years, and they will make a stop in 10 countries (check the schedule on their world tour here), and as reported earlier, their concert in New York will be held at Madison Square Garden on March 25th, that makes them the first Japanese artist to hold a one-man live there.  Moreover, it was announced that the live concert at Madison Square Garden will be live broadcasted at 29 movie theaters in Japan.
